We administer the Act according to detailed Rules, The Trade Marks Rules 2000 PDF document(365Kb), as amended, which are subject to change from time to time.

The Trade Marks Rules have recently been consolidated and modernised. The Trade Marks Rules 2008 External Link came into force on 1 October 2008.

Trade mark practice

Our Manual of trade marks practice sets out guidance on our work practices. We issue Law Practice Directions to provide additional guidance on the conduct of adversarial proceedings brought before us.
